Our Adoption Process

The following sections detail our thorough adoption process, ensuring our dogs find the perfect, forever homes they deserve.

01

Making up your mind to rescue a dog

The adoption process starts with making up your mind to rescue. By rescuing a dog, you are making a commitment to that dog to give it a better life than what it had. You are also committing to accepting the rescue dog’s flaws, to love it and to work with it no matter what.

Important Note:

WE ARE NOT IN THE SECURITY BUSINESS!

Our dogs are NOT security dogs, nor will we home a dog with you if we get the idea that you are only looking for a security dog! If you can’t love a dog like a family member, then don’t get one for they only know how to look at you as a pack member, which is family to them, which they in turn will protect.

Social media has helped a lot to get the plight of rescue dogs out there. But just because you see a picture perfect dog, it does not mean it is the right fit for you or your family. Meet as many dogs as possible. Always keep an open mind. There is no love like that of a second chance.

02

The Adoption Application

Secondly comes the application process. It is vital to be forthright and honest with information and to complete all documentation to the best of your ability.

Indoor Sleeping

For the safety of our dogs, we require them to sleep indoors or in a secure area at the back of the premises at night.

Sterilization Only

We only home our dogs where all existing pets are sterilized. We do not condone breeding of any kind.

Applicants must be willing and able to spend the relevant time and money for medical treatment, training and care. Mention any crime or poisoning incidents on your property and how you have tried to keep your animals safe.

03

Home Check

After evaluating your application, a rep will schedule a home check. Please allow approximately 2 weeks for this to happen as our team is extremely busy tending to all the dogs in our care.

Nothing is more important to us than the safety and security of our dogs. Power breeds are prone to getting stolen for dog fighting rings. Therefore, your walls and fencing must be up to scratch.

  • Security Complexes: 6ft wall required.
  • Normal Access: Split property with dog at the back, behind 2 sets of walls/fences.
  • Walls and palisades are considered viable fences; NOT wire mesh.

If turned down, you will have the opportunity to change what is needed. Please be gracious and accept the organization’s decision as it is always in the dog’s best interest.

04

Analysing Information

We analyze your application to find the best fit. All dogs in our care have been vetted by our behaviourists. We take this responsibility seriously to avoid dogs returning to kennels, which is damaging to their spirit.

If you have no existing pets, the process happens quite quickly. If you are a multi-pet home, we consider family size, energy levels, lifestyle, children, and current pet socialization. We will then arrange a meet and greet.

05

Meet & Greet Process

We usually do meet and greets on Saturday mornings to allow the dog to settle in over a calm weekend. We start on neutral grounds with our staff handling the dogs while you watch.

It is vitally important to stay calm and focused. The dog will sense if you are nervous. If successful on neutral ground, we move to your property. If any warning signs are observed, we may suggest another meet or a different dog.

Please have patience. Not all dogs will get along, much like people.

06

Adoption Fee, Contract & Placement

If all goes well, a contract will be signed. The contract state that the adopted dog remains the charge of the rescue for their life, protecting them from unforeseen circumstances.

Inclusions & Fees

No dog leaves without being:

Sterilized
Micro-chipped
Vaccinated

Adoption fees vary and are discussed in confidence. We rely solely on the generosity and goodwill of the public.

You become part of the family. We appreciate monthly feedback and pictures! We are always here to help and guide you through any issues encountered.
